The James Connally AFB Reunion held Sept 16-18, 2004 at Randolph AFB Texas was a great bunch of fun for all the Officers and AVCADs that were trained at JCAFB, that attended the reunion. Some 270 good fliers came. And I got to wear my starched 505 (made of cotton) uniform, that has been in the Silverman's bag since 1962; when I graduated! It was fun for all of us.

I also got to announce the start of two Historical Programs to be worked with the now, National USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson, AFB, Ohio, whereby we are to do two histories: The first will be to tell the Aviation Cadet Training story of JCAFB, 1961 through 1966 and the closing of the Naviagtors School there (this is, the last of the AVCADs story). The second will be to tell the Navigator-Bombardier-Observers story. No where in the Museum are these stories!

The next JCAFB Reunion is fall 2006. Come, it is great to see where all have been and what we all have done. Stay in touch. Sincerely, Ron Barrett 63-06 B1 USAF(Retired)

Col. Jim McGinnis's T-29 @ Connally

T-29 History

"This is a web site dedicated to those brave and disiplined men that so proudly served the US military as airmen-officers, navigators, observers, bombardiers and pilots, from the beginning of US Army flight until the mid 1960s."

May their lagacy live on in the defense of our wonderful democracy.

This T-29C is on the ramp at the old JCAFB now civilian airport & part ot the Texas-State Technical College. It is a T-29C actually flown by those of us trained at JCAFB. TSTC will work with us to get it to the National-USAF Museum.

One would think the USAF was only pilots! There is not even a T-29 at the Museum! There is a C-131 (VIP) transport. That is not a T-29 though. I have located now two T-29s we might acquire for the museum and have begun a collection of AVCAD & Navigators items to give to the museum. Please, Please, if you have anything to offer contact me ASAP, before all is lost to time. I am working through the Museum's Chief Curator, Mr. Terry Aitken. I am the POC for these programs
